The Board of Directors for Galveston County Municipal Utility District No. 73 (GC MUD 73) will hold a public hearing on a proposed tax rate increase for the 2025 tax year.
While the proposed tax rate is increasing by 10%, the taxes on the average residence homestead are projected to rise by 56.77% ($1,257.96). This substantial increase is primarily due to a large jump in the average appraised home value (from ~$221,600 to ~$319,400), meaning homeowners will pay more even at a similar tax rate.
